About

Hi, I’m Pablo

Architect by training, tinkerer by nature.

Most of this site is about the work. This page is about the person doing it. I’m happiest figuring out how something works, whether that’s a daylight model, a 3D printer that’s jammed again, or a bachata turn I still can’t quite land. Different rabbit holes. Same reason I climb in.

01 · The maker

I build things to understand them

My desk usually has something half-finished on it. I print my own parts, solder my own keyboards, type on a split board I tuned key by key. Somewhere under all that is a home lab doing far more than it needs to. My flat runs on Home Assistant: the lights, the sensors, automations I keep adding for reasons I'd struggle to defend out loud.

02 · Off the grid

Where the paved road gives up

When I close the laptop, I head out. I run, and I take a 4×4 into rural Antioquia, to the coffee towns where the tarmac runs out: Jardín, and Jericó above all. A camera comes with me, and so does the AeroPress, because coffee grown that close deserves to be made properly, even on a tailgate at the end of the road. Photographing a place is how I make myself slow down and actually look at it.

The most fun I have all week.

03 · On the floor

Dancing and letting go of the plan

Engineering rewards control. Dancing punishes it. I learned salsa and bachata in Medellín during my uni years, on nights when my engineer brain finally gave up counting the steps and just followed. I still chase that across London dancefloors, the one place I switch off and respond to the music, to a partner, to the moment.

The work

And when I’m at the desk

All that curiosity has a day job. I trained as an architect, and now I build the computational and machine-learning tools that simulate the buildings I used to design, turning slow, expert-only workflows into tools the rest of the team can actually run.
